Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Çağrı Uzun (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in the mobile application JapanWords: Japanese Flashcards (the “App”).
We built the App to be privacy-friendly. You do not create an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email, or any personal identifier to use the App. Your learning progress is stored locally on your device.
1. Information we do not collect
- We do not require or collect account information (name, email, phone).
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, or health data.
- Your study progress, streaks, and settings are stored only on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.
2. Information collected automatically by third parties
To keep the App free, we show ads and offer an optional ad-removal subscription. These features are provided by trusted third parties who may process limited data:
a) Advertising — Google AdMob
We use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect and process:
- Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS), device and app information, and general (non-precise) location derived from IP address.
- Ad interaction and performance data.
On iOS, we ask for your permission through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt before any tracking identifier is used for personalized ads. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalized.
Google’s use of data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. Learn about Google’s advertising practices here.
b) Subscriptions — RevenueCat & Apple
If you purchase the “Remove Ads” subscription, the purchase is handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to manage and validate subscriptions. RevenueCat processes:
- A randomly generated app user ID (not linked to your real identity),
- Purchase and subscription status (e.g., active/expired), and basic device info.
Apple handles the payment itself; we never receive or store your payment details.
3. Notifications
The App can send you local reminder notifications (for example, if you have not studied for 24 hours). These are scheduled on your device. You can turn them off at any time in your device Settings. We do not use push notifications from a server.
4. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
5. Data retention
Because learning data stays on your device, you can erase it at any time by using “Reset progress” inside the App or by deleting the App. Data processed by the third parties above is retained according to their own policies.
6. Your choices
- Ads personalization: control via the App Tracking Transparency prompt and your device Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Remove ads: purchase the optional subscription.
- Notifications: disable in device Settings.
- Reset data: use “Reset progress” in the App.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
